ARTIFICIAL INTELIGENCE AI

Sumary of Key Terms

Copilot - a conversational chat interface to search for specific information, generate text such as emails and summaries, and create images based on text prompts.

Diffusion model - a noise-based learning process that echoes the way gas molecules diffuse.

Digital twin - a virtual model of a real live object. The virtual model copies the object's lifecycle, simulating and monitoring it's behavior in real time using data sent from it's sensors.

Foundation mode - creative ability to apply the information learnt from one domain to another.

Generative AI - uses algorithms to create unique content for images, video, music and text. The algoriths include text-to-image, image-to-video, image-to-image methods.

GPT - Generative Pre-trained Transformer - AI-powered language model developed by OpenAI, capable of generating human-like text based on context and past conversations.

Hallucination - where facts given as an answer to a question may be false.

Heuristic - method of solving problems usually by past experience - often by a rule of thumb.

Instrumental convergence - where machines could develop the means to ensure their own self-preservation.

Jailbreak - bypassing safeguards that restrict illegal or unethical content.

Knowledge graph - method of using knowledge in a network - also called a semantic network.

Large language model LLM - system designed to understand and generate human-like text and write different kinds of creative content.

Model collapse - a degenerative process whereby models can be designed to forget.

Neural network - method of using interconnected nodes similar to the human brain.

Prompt engineering - process of structuring text that can be interpreted and understood by a generative AI model.

Regression - method to determine the relationship between one variable (y) and other variables (x).

Superintelligence - an entity with abilities that the world's most gifted human minds could not match.

Shoggoth - a high level being with deep hidden dangerous alien desires and intentions.

Training data - sources and information used to analyse and learn to make predictions.

Unsupervised learning - method of producing results using unlabelled training data without guidance.

Voice cloning - method to copy a person's voice.
