The playing area comprises nine buttons on a 3 x 3 grid, on which the players can take turns to click a button. Clicking one of these buttons, assigns it a 'X' or 'O' according to the turn of the respective player. When a line of the same three letters appear on the grid, the appropiate player is declared the winner. A count of the number of wins per player is kepted and displayed.

If all the buttons are clicked without a line of the same letter having appeared, the game is a tie and is declared over. A new game must be started to continue play.
